Unlike the original, the sequel will immediately offer multiplayer, which has increased the budget to 1.5 billion zlotys (about $400 million). Currently, 132 developers are working on the project, but their number will double in the coming years.
If the forecast is correct, development will take about 5-6 years - significantly less than the nearly ten years spent on Cyberpunk 2077. Due to the multiplayer component, the release has been pushed back, which may affect the release date of The Witcher 4 - possibly in 2027-2028.
Developers will likely take past mistakes into account. As a reminder, Cyberpunk 2077 was released with issues, especially on last-generation consoles.
