Epic Games has begun to massively recall V-Bucks and cosmetic items from Fortnite player accounts that abused the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate promotion.
This concerns the "first month for $1" campaign. As part of it, new subscribers gained access to Fortnite Crew, including 1000 V-Bucks.
The promotion was legal, but some players went further. After receiving the rewards, they not only canceled the subscription, but also contacted banks or card operators with a request to refund the dollar paid. In fact, this allowed them to keep V-Bucks and items for which Epic did not receive money.
Epic Games considered these actions as financial fraud and began applying its return policy at the end of December. Players began receiving notifications about the removal of V-Bucks and all items purchased with the returned funds. The company emphasizes that the measures only affected those who requested a refund, and not users who canceled their subscription within the rules.
