The publishing house «Bombora» decided to beautifully end this year. It became known that it had acquired the rights to republish the book «Sid Meier's Memoir! A Life in Computer Games».
Previously, thanks to the «MIF» publishing house, the book had already been published in Russian under the title «Sid Meier: Life in the World of Computer Games», but the employees of «Bombora» wanted to give this story a second chance and the edition it deserves.
Over his forty-year career, Sid Meier has created many popular projects, including the turn-based strategy Sid Meier’s Civilization. This game from the distant 1991 has sold more than 51 million copies worldwide. In total, it has been played for over a billion hours.
The book presents the story of an obsessed young computer enthusiast who helped launch a multi-billion dollar industry. Meier shares his perspective on the history of the industry, the psychology of gamers, and a fascinating understanding of the creative process, including his own rules for good game design.
His memoirs describe the creation of MicroProse, founded in 1982, and also tell about the development of iconic games, starting with such classic projects as Pirates!, Railroad Tycoon and more.
