The image familiar to many from the films would be inappropriate in today's realities.
The director of cinematic scenes for the game 007 First Light about a young James Bond recently spoke with FRVR and shared her vision of the character.
Martin Emborg previously stated that the game will include elements of the image of the "charming Bond" that many fans of the franchise are accustomed to, but the protagonist is still a "modern guy" and will reflect "modern values."
He confirmed that Bond in 007 First Light will retain the traits of a "womanizer" from the early films:
The image of Bond has changed over the decades, and, of course, we reflect modern values. So this won't be an "old-fashioned Bond" — that's just inappropriate today. He's a modern guy.
Emborg noted that the developers paid a lot of attention to the development of the combat system:
The fights turned out to be very physical because Bond is a physically developed character. It's insanely fun, and I think it's something IO hasn't done before. We've also added many layers to the ranged combat system — polished it and taken it to a new level. I think everyone at IO was eager to try their hand in this direction. And, of course, we have large-scale scenes — with trucks, airplanes, and stuff like that.
The release of 007 First Light is scheduled for May 27, 2026.
