Sonic Racing: Crossworlds was released in September 2025 and has since quickly grown in content. The game has performed particularly well on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, where there has long been a lack of a major kart racing game. Sega adds its own characters like Miku Hatsune, Ichiban Kasuga, and Nights as free DLC, and crossovers with other franchises — including Minecraft, SpongeBob, and Pac-Man — are included in the season pass or sold separately.
In the interview, Kobayakawa stated:
We released Sonic Racing CrossWorlds in September 2025. Partly thanks to more than 30 years of experience in racing games, accumulated since Sega Rally, the game has been warmly received by players.
We plan to continue support throughout the 2026 season, but we have also prepared many more amazing surprises than were at launch. We aim to make 2026 a year that will surprise everyone, with a focus on “the fun of games”.
