According to the service's data, the Xbox Series X|S sold over two million units in 2025. The figure looks better than previous estimates, which put sales at around one million this year, but the year-on-year situation remains difficult. Compared to 2024, sales fell by 45% — approximately 4.8 million consoles were sold then.

A key factor in the decline was the significant price increases on both Xbox Series X|S models, introduced by Microsoft over the past 12 months. Total sales of the line to date are estimated at 34.1 million units. For comparison, PlayStation 5 has reached 86.1 million consoles sold. The first-generation Nintendo Switch has sold 152.7 million units, including about four million this year, and the Nintendo Switch 2, despite its shorter presence on the market, has already sold 12.4 million units.

The slowdown in Xbox's pace partially resembles the trajectory of the original Switch, but in Nintendo's case, it is explained by the age of the platform. For Microsoft, classic consoles connected to the TV are increasingly taking a back seat.

In 2025, the company focused on developing the ecosystem beyond stationary devices, actively investing in ROG Xbox Ally, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and the PC direction. The Series X|S remain relevant gaming systems, but Microsoft's strategy is increasingly shifting towards presence on all platforms. Rumor has it that the next Xbox will be closer in concept to a "console PC."
