The ambitious project faces release issues.

The creators of Counter-Strike: Legacy, a fan-made remake of Counter-Strike, recently announced the project's freeze due to Valve's stance.

Last summer, the authors of Counter-Strike: Legacy received a letter from a Valve employee. They were informed that their project might require a separate license since it uses the company's IP (intellectual property).

The modders tried to contact Valve but were unable to get a response:

We will try to contact Valve again to see if there is a way to release CS: Legacy. But if there is no response, we will fully focus on our original franchise. Due to this situation, we have frozen the development of CS: Legacy and are focusing all our efforts on our game. We cannot continue to invest time and effort into a project that may never be released. Nevertheless, if a solution is found that allows CS: Legacy to be released, we will resume development, release it, and allow the community to create content as soon as possible.

Currently, the creators of Counter-Strike: Legacy are developing a multiplayer first-person shooter on the Godot engine, promising Quake-style movement and various game modes.
