Sony is not delaying PS6: insider calms fans

There has been active discussion online about possible delays to the PlayStation 6 due to a global shortage of RAM, but new data will reassure players. Insider Moore’s Law Is Dead has refuted rumors that Sony has already decided to postpone the release.

No meetings have been held within the company to change the schedule. Sony, like Microsoft, is simply closely monitoring the market — this is standard practice for large projects.

Processor design and RAM selection are being conducted separately. Contracts with TSMC for the production of APUs for PS6 have already been signed, and chip development is proceeding according to plan. The memory configuration (24, 36 GB or more) will be finally determined closer to the end of 2026.

The experience of the PS4 shows that the company can change specifications at the last moment — then the RAM was doubled from 4 to 8 GB. Currently, the PS6 premiere remains scheduled for 2027; a postponement is possible only if the situation with components deteriorates sharply, otherwise the schedule will remain.
