New PS5 Exploit: Which Games Are Potentially Suitable for Console Hacking

According to user DesignerLeake on X, who documented the vulnerability in Star Wars Racer Revenge, a similar exploit could work through other vulnerable PS2 games, potentially serving as alternative entry points.

Initially, the exploit utilizes Star Wars Racer Revenge and a disc-based vulnerability via mast1c0re — a save game exploit for PS4 and PS5 that allows running PS2 games and applications. According to developer Gezine, the exploit only works on disc-based PS5 consoles with firmware 12.00; digital versions are not supported.

DesignerLeake noted that Star Wars Racer Revenge is not the only possible target. Research from 2023 showed that mast1c0re could be adapted for other games as well.

All these games share one common feature: data storage errors that allow overwriting memory with excessively long profile, file, or save names. Some of these vulnerabilities have already been demonstrated on PS4 and PS5, confirming that this is a systemic issue rather than an isolated case.
