The developers pay a lot of attention to the development of cars.
The studio of the creator of Just Cause, "Liquid Swords", recently presented several answers to community questions about the Samson project.
The developers talked about the sources of inspiration and more:
Samson: A Tyndalston Story takes place in the 90s, and since our team consists of industry veterans who grew up in the 80s and 90s, the action scenes of cult films of that era, such as "Ronin" and "Heat", are literally in our blood and vision of the project.
The authors of Samson have extensive work experience, including on the game adaptation of Mad Max - their knowledge is used when working on a new project:
Some members of our team worked on the car combat system in Mad Max, and we used the knowledge accumulated over the years to create the transport gameplay of Samson - but adapted it to the lively, close street structure of the city of Tyndalston. Whether it's extreme driving on the edge, chasing and destroying targets, or escaping from the police - there is a place for all this in the game!
The developers also noted that all cars in the game are unique and created manually, their appearance and driving experience are based on real prototypes. They use the standard control model and physics of Unreal Engine 5.7, and also apply real data to the physical parameters of the cars.
At the same time, the cars were configured in such a way that a player of any level could enjoy driving.
The cars consist of parts and each can fail, which will affect its behavior on the road. For example, if a tire bursts, the grip on the road will decrease, and if a wheel falls off, it may overturn at high speed.
The police in the game will be and it is a significant threat: law enforcement officers will respond to crimes, will be able to use helicopters for pursuit, roadblocks and patrols will appear.
