Recently, Fallout 76 fans from Japan complained to Bethesda that they were deprived of the opportunity to continue using the Fallout 1st subscription.
Until April 2024, Xbox players from Japan faced complete unavailability or unstable access to Fallout 1st - the subscription might not appear in the Xbox store, purchase attempts would fail due to regional restrictions, subscriptions were canceled or became unavailable for renewal without explanation.
But, as hatukanezumi0503 said, at a certain point the situation changed (as it seemed) for the better:
In April 2024, Fallout 1st suddenly appeared in the Japanese Xbox store. Users could subscribe as usual: payments were successful, and all the benefits of the subscription worked correctly in the game. At that time, there was no indication that the access was unofficial, temporary, or erroneous. Given past cases of instability, many users took this change as a possible restoration of normal service operation.
From the users' point of view, everything looked normal: payments in the store were accepted, and there was no warning at the time of purchase.
However, in early 2026, reports began to arrive that Bethesda had removed the subscription from the store:
Existing subscriptions expired and could not be renewed, and new subscriptions became impossible to purchase.
Bethesda / Xbox support responded:
Fallout 1st is not officially distributed on Xbox in Japan. There was a period when access to it was granted by mistake.
Fallout 1st provides various bonuses and useful features, including a private adventure and personal worlds, as well as a scrapbox - it can store an "unlimited number of components for crafting items."
Without Fallout 1st, the game becomes less convenient, which annoys long-time fans - they would be willing to continue paying for the subscription.
