Recently, the creators of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn decided to talk about audio design:
People are used to thinking that it is quiet in space, but silence can mean \"danger.\" For example, inside a spacesuit, a constant hum is always heard - this is a fan that supplies oxygen to the face. The Owlcat Games team conducted research and found that vibrations from shots inside the ship are transmitted to its hull and are likely felt through magnetic boots.
The developers of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn liked this idea (sound transmission) and they decided to adapt it
All you will hear is what your character feels: breathing turns into vibrations. The tension remains - and with it, fear.
