Recently, actor Ron Perlman talked about how he voiced Fallout for "$40 and a sandwich."

Writer Chris Avellone responded to a fragment of his interview, sharing a story related to Perlman.

There were certain "difficulties" in getting him to voice Fallout: New Vegas. We were initially told he was "too expensive." It's a shame—I adore Ron Perlman, his voice acting, and his acting in movies.

However, there was another part of the story that clearly "left a mark" on Perlman (if everything was as Avellone says).

Chris Avellone stated that Ron Perlman was forced to repeat one iconic phrase from Fallout, and in the end, the very first recording of the line was used in the game:

We were told this part of the story later—the producer explained why [Perlman] turned out to be so "expensive": supposedly, Bethesda locked him in the studio, where he said "War. War never changes" for an hour straight. And when the recording was finished, they decided: "You know what, let's just leave the first take."

Then he talked about his experience working with Perlman on another project:

We called him again after Fallout 2—to work on Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter. And "mysteriously," our voice-over coordinator was somehow unable to attend the recording session, so I had to go. And after Fallout 2, of course, I didn't want to at all (he was great).
