According to an analytical report by Mateusz Chrzanowski from Noble Securities, the total budget of the game is estimated at almost $800 million. This level of expenditure puts the new CD Projekt RED project on par with the largest releases on the market, including GTA 6. This is one of the few games capable of competing with Rockstar Games projects in terms of financial investment.
The scale of development is almost ten times greater than the figures for The Witcher 3, for the creation of which the studio spent about $81 million. The significant increase in the budget is associated with large technological investments, including a complete transition to Unreal Engine 5, as well as the work of a team of almost 500 people employed exclusively on this project. According to analysts, development costs will amount to about 1.4 billion zlotys, and CD Projekt RED plans to allocate the same amount to a global marketing campaign. In total, this amounts to approximately $776 million.
CD Projekt RED is building the development process with increased caution, seeking to avoid the problems that accompanied the release of Cyberpunk 2077. According to the schedule in the report, the release of The Witcher 4 is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027. The studio also expects to release the entire new trilogy within six years from the release of the first part.
Separately, it is noted that the studio will continue to support The Witcher 3 until the release of the new game. According to the same data, a new DLC for the third part may be released as early as May 2026.
