Nintendo quietly updated Donkey Kong Country Returns HD - the upgrade is available for free
Nintendo has released a free update for Donkey Kong Country Returns HD without loud announcements. The patch improves the game version on Nintendo Switch 2.
The improvements were worked on by the Polish studio Forever Entertainment SA. The patch adds a new playable character — Dixie Kong. She is available in both single-player and local co-op. Players can choose who will take action — Diddy or Dixie, and in the two-player mode you can switch between characters with a single press of the stick.
Turbo Attack has appeared — a mode for speedrunning the level. It opens after the first completion of the stage, works in parallel with Time Attack and rewards a turbo medal for meeting the time limit. Support for Brazilian Portuguese has also been added, and image quality and minor errors have been fixed.
For Switch 2 owners, the key changes are improved resolution and image clarity, faster loading and optimization for the console screen and TVs. Additionally, a local GameShare mode has appeared: just go to the "2 player" section and select the desired option.
The update is distributed free of charge.
