Helldivers 2 PC Version "Slimmed Down" - Developers Have Reduced the Size of the Game Files Several Times
PC gamers have long complained about the very large size of the game.
Recently, the authors of Helldivers 2 introduced a technical update on PC, which players had previously been able to test during the beta. It is designed to significantly reduce the amount of space the game occupies on the drive:
Finally, after several weeks of studying your feedback and stress tests, we are ready to make the "slim PC build" the standard build for all players. We will leave the "large" version online for a short time to ensure a smooth transition; you can still roll back to it if you wish. After the transition is complete, we plan to permanently remove the large build from circulation in the near future.
Previously, the PC version of Helldivers 2 could weigh up to 130-140 GB — some data was duplicated to support players with HDD drives (as a result, one asset could have several copies).
However, the developers conducted a study and came to the conclusion that it is possible to optimize the file size, while the loading time for players with HDDs should not increase significantly.
After all the manipulations, the "weight" of Helldivers 2 on PC is approximately 22 GB — a decrease of 6-7 times.
