Bully Online Multiplayer Was Doomed - Developer Comments on Project Closure Shortly After Release
Some managed to play Bully Online before it was shut down.
Last year, modders from Fat Pigeon Development released the multiplayer mod Bully Online. However, in early 2026, the project was shut down.
Now SWEGTA has released a video in which he refutes some popular misconceptions — the closure of Bully Online is not related to the fact that the modders started accepting donations (after the closure, they returned the money).
SWEGTA cannot reveal too many details of the closure, but added that players can "try to guess" who is behind sending the letter to the modders. Many assume that it is about the lawyers of the GTA publisher "Take-Two", since the wording "take two guesses" was used.
According to SWEGTA, the project was doomed, "could not survive" — he studied the modding rules and realized that such a modification could not be done.
The Fat Pigeon Development team will be creating other projects. SWEGTA noted that they had previously disclosed the Bully Online source code and there is a possibility that someone else may revive the project.
