Highguard was released on PC on Steam on January 26. The game was shown at the finale of The Game Awards 2025, but after that, the developers were in no hurry to show or talk about the project.
This "radio silence mode" became a meme, but some gamers still learned about the existence of Highguard without additional advertising. At the start, the peak online of the free-to-play game reached 97 thousand users, and the rating rapidly plummeted.
Highguard received "mostly negative" reviews on Steam, a 30% rating after 19 thousand reviews — this made it one of the worst games on Valve's service.
In terms of user rating, it is in 17th place — between HAWKEN REBORN and Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond (for comparison, Call of Duty: Warzone is at 22; Umbrella Corps at 23; Redfall at 38).
At the same time, a significant part of the negativity is not related to the quality of Highguard itself, but to the technical condition of the servers: the authors of many negative reviews simply could not connect on launch day.
