The Kickstarter campaign for the Mecha Comet portable modular computer recently launched. The developers' main goal was to raise $50,000 (3,826,315 rubles), but the team already has $588,639 (45,046,364 rubles) in the bank.
This is a device running Mechanix OS (Linux 6.12) that features a magnetic module connection system. This means you can install a keyboard, gamepad, and other things.
Inside the Mecha Comet, you'll find an NXP i.MX 8M Plus or I.MX 95 processor, 2 | 4 | 8 GB of RAM, 32 | 128 GB of built-in eMMC flash memory, slots for microSD and NVMe SSD, a 3.92-inch AMOLED display, an 8 MP camera, WiFi 6, BT 5.4, USB-C, an HD speaker, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a 4100 mAh battery.
Currently, you can pre-order this novelty with an i.MX 8M Plus processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of built-in memory for $189 (14,463 rubles). It will reach buyers in June 2026.
And the Mecha Comet with an I.MX 95 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of built-in memory costs $269 (20,585 rubles, will be sent out in September 2026).
