There are very, very many Russian-speaking players in Dota 2. They are especially often encountered in games in "Europe". Not all of them use English to communicate with allies from other countries, which creates problems when trying to coordinate actions.
Technologies are not standing still and lalanana expressed the opinion that in 2026 Valve should add a built-in automatic translator from Russian to English in Dota 2.
lalanana was prompted to this thought by a comment he noticed during a stream on Twitch:
I saw this comment and realized how much better the games would be if I understood what my four Russian-speaking allies were writing in Cyrillic... I only play on EUWEST, but Russians are in every game. It would be possible to at least try to figure out what they wrote after the match if it was written in ordinary (Latin) letters, but when it is Cyrillic, there is no chance. Of course, such a tool would probably require additional system resources, but the games themselves would become much better.
