Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have announced that the demo for the horror remake Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly will be released on March 5 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Simultaneously, a new trailer showcasing core gameplay mechanics has been published. Details of the demo are currently unknown.
A collaboration with the horror game Silent Hill f from Konami has also been announced. As part of the collaboration, the main protagonists of Fatal Frame 2, twins Mio and Mayu Amakura, will receive new costumes replicating the look of Hinako Shijima from Silent Hill f.
The trailer demonstrates the gameplay: Mio explores Minakami Village, armed only with a camera, and photographs ghosts using special film.
The remake will feature new side stories, locations, and the final theme "Utsushi" by Tsuki Amano. The game will be released on March 12, 2026, on all platforms with updated graphics, sound, and modern mechanics, including "Holding Hands With Mayu," which allows Mio to recover after spirit attacks.
