The reason was his public comments on LinkedIn. In them, the developer criticized Ubisoft's new policy requiring employees to work in the office five days a week.

According to Michaud-Cromp, the company explained the punishment as an "alleged breach of the duty of loyalty" towards the employer. The trigger was a post where he questioned the official position of the management. Ubisoft claims that the in-person format improves interaction within teams, to which the employee responded:

Come on, we are not fools... we know perfectly well why you actually want a return to offices for 5 days....

By this, he implied that the decision was not dictated by concern for the projects.

The incident has exacerbated already strained relations between management and staff. According to unofficial data, the mandatory office work requirement is extremely unpopular among employees, who consider it a step backward after several years of successful remote work. The suspension of a studio veteran for a public statement could become another point of tension ahead of a three-day strike by Ubisoft's French divisions scheduled for mid-February.
