Bethesda head Todd Howard recently confirmed that development of The Elder Scrolls VI is ongoing and is currently happening on a "daily basis," but details about the project remain extremely scarce.

The Elder Scrolls VI was announced in 2018, and since then Bethesda has shared almost no information. Fans are trying to piece together the picture from leaks and indirect data. Officially, the studio has not yet revealed exactly where on the map of Tamriel the new installment will take place. Meanwhile, Kurt Kuhlmann, former lead designer of Skyrim, said that a possible setting was discussed as far back as the development of Fallout 4.

According to him, a specific location was not finalized at that time, but there was a general consensus within the studio regarding the chosen region. At that point, there was neither a plot nor a developed concept. Kuhlmann noted that Bethesda only began fully shaping the story and working on The Elder Scrolls VI around the time the teaser was released — after the releases of Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 and before the active development of Starfield.

This means that at the time the teaser was published, the studio was still at the stage of working through the project's basic ideas. The main theory regarding the setting of The Elder Scrolls VI remains Hammerfell.
