During a special Nintendo Direct broadcast, details of the life simulation game Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream were revealed - the first new game in the series in more than ten years. The presentation was hosted by producer Yoshiaki Koizumi, and the showcase lasted 20 minutes.
Players will be able to create Mii characters from scratch or by answering questions about appearance, choosing a face, hairstyle, eyes, height, build, voice, and gender.
The island starts out empty, and new residents gradually appear on it — friends, colleagues, mentors, and pets. Mii interact on their own, form friendships, romantic relationships, and go about their daily lives even without the player's involvement.
Players will be able to develop the island with the help of shops, workshops, and a photo studio, as well as decorate homes and the landscape. In Pallet House, items, clothes, pets, and drinks are created. Characters have "little habits" and phrases that affect their behavior and interactions with other Mii.
Up to eight characters can live in homes at the same time, revealing different sides of their personalities. Players will be able to observe romantic storylines, help Mii become friends, fall in love, or quarrel, creating unique stories on the island.
Release date: April 16, 2026 on Nintendo Switch; the game will be compatible with Switch 2.
