The developers have thoroughly redesigned the interface.
The creators of the truck driver simulators Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator have shared some of the improvements coming in the upcoming 1.58 update.
They presented a redesigned tutorial based on a new contextual hint system:
Its goal is to introduce new users to the game and its features more naturally, providing useful information at the right moment rather than relying exclusively on a single linear tutorial scenario. In the first stage, the system will include hints from the current tutorial task, supplemented by a set of notifications. These hints will appear at specific moments during gameplay, helping newcomers master the core mechanics without distracting experienced drivers from the road.
Route Advisor has been completely redesigned — the old version will be removed and replaced with a widget system:
Instead of a single fixed panel, information will now be displayed through separate graphical widgets, each responsible for a specific function. This approach provides a cleaner and tidier interface, while also giving players more control over what information they want to see while driving. Widgets can be customized to suit different play styles and preferences — whether it is a minimalist layout or a more information-rich interface (HUD).
The pause screen has also been completely redesigned — "Quick Info" has appeared (this section now contains information moved from the Advisor: about the job, truck damage, and so on).
Update 1.58 for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator is already available in open beta, which can be accessed through the games' "Properties" in Steam under the betas section.
