Publisher Paradox Interactive is known for actively releasing additional content. Games such as Hearts of Iron IV, Europa Universalis IV, Cities: Skylines, and Crusader Kings III have a wide variety of add-ons available.

Paradox understands that such a long list of DLC can scare off or confuse new buyers and is trying to assemble DLC bundles.

During a conversation with investors, Paradox head Fred Wester stated:

We fully understand that if a player comes in and sees a whole pile of add-ons, it can be a bit intimidating and may discourage them from buying the game right away, especially if they are new. But, as we have already mentioned, we offer various bundles to create starter packs [game + DLC] and make the onboarding process easier.

Paradox launched a paid subscription for add-ons — you can get access to the entire DLC collection for a certain amount per month:

We also work with pricing policy in different regions and hold major sales. In addition, we have a DLC subscription [for some games]. That is also an option. You pay a small amount to try everything, and you can do so on a month-to-month basis. These are the strategies we have tried so far — and they work excellently. But we continue to look for ways to make our offers even more attractive to a larger number of players

Paradox Interactive will continue to release various add-ons for its games.
