Nintendo had earlier presented its own quarterly report, but Sony's figures turned out to be higher. During the period, 8 million PS5 units were sold versus 7.01 million Switch 2 units. At the same time, PlayStation sales declined by 1.5 million compared with last year, against the backdrop of the console's age and market saturation.
Total PS5 shipments reached 92.2 million devices. This shows that Sony is relying not only on initial demand, but also on an established user base.
During the quarter, 97.2 million copies of games were sold on PS5 and PS4, 1.3 million more than a year earlier. Of these, 13.2 million were titles from internal studios, which is 1.6 million above last year's figure. The share of digital sales rose to 76%, up 2% year over year.
Sony also reported PSN growth: 132 million monthly active users as of September 30, 2025. That is 3 million more than a year ago.
