The developers of Payday 3 have summarized the recent testing of a new approach to organizing online play. Instead of dedicated servers, they offered a peer-to-peer system (players connect directly to each other).
Starbreeze Studios presented the results of a survey of community members. The majority (over 60%) experienced better ping and performance, while approximately a quarter saw no change in these metrics.
Over 68% of players did not observe any disconnection issues at all, and they rarely occurred for 22.1% of respondents.
The developers of Payday 3 are satisfied with the test results. The P2P (peer-to-peer) function is planned to be included in the February update, but "the game will run primarily on servers until we are sure that this function does not worsen the gameplay compared to the current [state of the game}."
