This is an updated version of the original 2001 game for PlayStation, available for the first time on modern consoles and PCs. The new edition includes native platform support, widescreen modes, achievements, and visual filters, while preserving the game's signature style.
The plot of Retro Helix unfolds in 2048 in futuristic Hong Kong and continues the story before the events of the first Fear Effect. Hana Tsu-Vachel, former agent Royce Glas, mercenary Deke DeCourcy, and the mysterious Rain Qin return, investigating mysteries intertwined with high-tech espionage, mythology, and supernatural elements.
The graphics remain true to the original cel-shading style with 3D characters against animated FMV backgrounds, which was unique more than 20 years ago and is still impressive.
Physical editions for Switch and PS5 are available for pre-order at Limited Run Games — standard and Deluxe versions include the soundtrack and poster.
