After Dragon Quest XI, the franchise was mainly limited to spin-offs, but now the company has started updating classic installments, starting with the Dragon Quest HD-2D trilogy. This was followed by the second remake — Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. The previous version of the game remained a Nintendo 3DS exclusive for a long time.
The release attracted a significant audience. The peak online for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined on Steam exceeded 27,000 players, which is one of the best figures among the series' games on the Valve platform. Only Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake showed a higher result – 45,357 players.
Square Enix has not yet published sales data, but the launch of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is already among the most successful for updated versions of classic installments in the series.
