Microsoft is in no hurry to release Minecraft on PC on Steam, but there is such a request. Various developers are trying to satisfy it by offering games in the spirit of the Mojang project.
Recently, Microsoft's lawyers drew attention to one such game on Steam — they had questions about Allumeria. They issued a DMCA strike (copyright infringement) and soon the project page was removed from Steam.
The creator of Allumeria explained that the project had been in development for about a year and before appearing on Steam, the project was promoted through the itch.io service — and before that there were no claims regarding "copyright".
Developer Unomelon had already started thinking about closing the project, but soon Microsoft unexpectedly changed its mind: the claims were withdrawn. The company did not provide any comments on either the complaint itself or its subsequent withdrawal.
It seems that Unomelon is not the only such developer who has been hit by a strange DMCA strike from Microsoft, but his case has become one of the most publicized, going viral in the gaming community.
