The events were planned to unfold between Ridley Scott's original film and "Blade Runner 2049." For fans, it was a chance to see the cinematic universe expanded.

The reason for the cancellation is said to be serious problems within Annapurna Interactive. In 2024, almost the entire team resigned, but at the time it was stated that development would be preserved. After large-scale personnel changes and organizational difficulties, the publisher likely abandoned some of the 14 curated projects. The complete removal of mentions of the game signaled that Labyrinth will not be released in the foreseeable future.

This is the second cancellation for Blade Runner in a short time. A year ago, another project in the series from Supermassive Games, the creators of Until Dawn, was shut down. It focused on cinematic presentation, a third-person view, and stealth mechanics.

After two cancellations in a row, only the 1997 point-and-click game remains in the universe.
