The new installment in the franchise will not be released anytime soon.
Recently, players were reminded again about Blackfrost: The Long Dark 2, but the occasion is not joyful. Hinterland studio founder Raphael van Lierop announced that the game will not be released in "early access" in 2026.
He also said that he made the "difficult decision" to lay off some employees — a total of 14 specialists will lose their jobs.
Raphael clarified that the reductions will not affect the release of Episode Five: The Light At The End Of All Things for the original The Long Dark.
