During the latest State of Play show, Sony Santa Monica officially announced the remake of the Kratos adventure trilogy - God of War Trilogy Remake. Despite the joy of the fans, many began to fear that the studio was stuck in working out old ideas.
Good news: this is not all the team is working on. Insider Shinobi602 confirmed on the ResetEra forum that the studio is preparing a new, not yet announced project, not related to remakes.
The focus is on Cory Barlog, the creator of the success of God of War 2018. He deliberately stepped aside during the work on Ragnarök to focus on "something new". According to the latest leaks, the mysterious game may be shown later this year – either at the May State of Play or at the December The Game Awards ceremony. If all goes according to plan, the premiere on PS5 is possible as early as 2027.
Although Sony is silent so far, journalist Jason Schreier shed light on the essence of the project: it is not quite a new franchise, but the game should "create the impression of something new." Possible scenarios include: a new pantheon (Kratos may end up in Ancient Egypt or the lands of the Aztecs), a spin-off on another character from the universe, a genre reboot, or a science fiction new franchise.
