Not everyone is happy about the remake of the original God of War trilogy

At its latest showcase, PlayStation revealed the release date for Control: Resonant, Beast of Reincarnation, as well as surprises - a new Castlevania and a sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits. But the biggest moment was the announcement from Sony Santa Monica: the original God of War trilogy will get a remake, and actor Terrence Carson will return to the role of Kratos.

For fans, this was a major event, but part of the community reacted to the news coolly. Many fear that the remake will "smooth out" the original's interesting and controversial moments. User Autumnoraki wrote on X that his interest in the game "dropped sharply" after learning about the remake. Another fan called the news a "strong move" until it was confirmed that this was a remake rather than just a port for modern consoles.

The reasons for the dissatisfaction are understandable: the old games are still playable as they are, and God of War 3 Remastered is available on PS5 and does not require a new remake. There is also a sense of "remake fatigue," since similar projects like Final Fantasy 7 and Persona 4 are being released more and more often, and they do not always improve on the original.

Nevertheless, trust in Santa Monica remains high, and many hope that the remake will preserve the spirit of the series while removing only the controversial elements.
