In mid-February, hacker Kirigiri announced that he had managed to crack Borderlands 4. The PC version of the Gearbox Software looter-shooter was protected using the infamous Denuvo DRM protection.
Kirigiri said that testing was carried out on version 1.3.0-4459647. This "crack" of Borderlands 4 was successfully launched on PCs with AMD and Intel processors.
This is not a typical hack — the protection of Borderlands 4 was bypassed using a "hypervisor".
When using such a technical solution, the player needs to disable Windows protection systems, which creates an additional threat to the PC.
Kirigiri noted that in addition to Denuvo, Borderlands 4 included standard Steam protection and "Symbiote" (anti-cheat).
