Recently, the game director of Fallout: New Vegas noted in an interview that it took players several years to appreciate the project. After that, he continued to share his thoughts on social media.
Josh Sawyer noticed a video reaction from blogger Matty Slop (MrMattyPlays) to his statement and asked: "Do people think they remember the initial reviews of Fallout: New Vegas better than I do?"
He noted that despite some praise, many early reviews of the game were harsh.
The developer drew a parallel between Fallout: New Vegas and Cyberpunk 2077 — the CDPR game was also actively criticized after the 1.0 release, but then the attitude changed:
There was another game that sold very well at launch, but the reviews weren't great... You might know it, it's... Cyberpunk 2077!!! I hope people now recognize that it is (as I believe) a great game, but its reputation at launch was far from fantastic.
