In 2026, the Castlevania series will be 40 years old. The official website states that Belmont’s Curse is "just the beginning of many new products" in the franchise:
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the release of the original Akumajō Dracula [Japanese name of the project – ed.]. In this anniversary year, the Castlevania series will be reborn. As a first step, the Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse project has been announced.
Konami added that they "couldn't imagine collaborating with any other studios besides Evil Empire and Motion Twin." Previously, the teams worked together on the Return to Castlevania DLC for Dead Cells.
There is no exact release date – the release is scheduled for 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The website also mentions a version for Nintendo Switch. The authors promise a dark style for the series and modern gameplay solutions.
