In February 2026, players once again remembered the Silent Storm project. Nival founder Sergei Orlovsky published the game's source code in open access on GitHub:
Released more than twenty years ago, Silent Storm has become a cult tactical game with turn-based gameplay, known for its deep systems and fully destructible environment. At the time, it set a high bar for systemicity and technical ambition. Now the source code is available to the community. Welcome to the new chapter of Silent Storm!
The published "Silent-Storm" repository contains:
- source code and development tools
- game data and resources
- compiled executable files
- configuration files
- developer version
The source code was published under a special license prohibiting commercial use. However, it is fully "open to the game community, educational purposes and research."
