Sophie Turner on the new Lara Croft: "I don't want her to be seen as a sex bomb"

The actress revealed new details of her version of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider film adaptation. Sophie Turner emphasized that she wants to move away from the previous, sexualized image of the heroine.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, she stated:

I really want to show a different side of Lara. I don't want her to be seen as a sex bomb – it's important to me that viewers see her strength, intelligence, and determination.

Turner added that for her, the heroine is "incredibly competent and absolutely confident in her skills," and this will be the basis of the new interpretation.

Filming began at the beginning of the year. The cast includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, and Jack Bannon.

The creators note that the project will focus on the character and abilities of Lara Croft, rejecting the image that has dominated pop culture for many years.
