Currently, the demand for semiconductors for memory and AI accelerators in data centers has become so high that the industry risks facing a shortage of processors and even outdated media such as hard disk drives (HDDs). Against the backdrop of reduced supplies, price increases are expected for CPUs, RAM, and SSDs.
In China, it is reported that stores are running out of certain processor models. Intel and AMD have warned that the waiting time for some CPUs will be up to six months.
Western Digital announced that it has sold out its entire volume of HDDs for 2026. Orders from the largest partners are already being accepted for 2027 and the beginning of 2028. In early January, there were also reports of price increases for both SSDs and HDDs.
