World Record: Budget AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT Overclocked to Record Frequencies

An absolute record for overclocking a graphics processor has been set. The affordable Radeon RX 9060 XT, not a flagship, reached 4.769 GHz. For comparison, the factory clock speed is 3.13 GHz - an increase of over 1.6 GHz.

The American manufacturer, together with extreme overclocking enthusiast Splave, achieved stable operation of the card in the company's offices in Markham. Previously, only two GPUs had exceeded 4 GHz: the GeForce RTX 4090 Splave and the integrated Arrow Lake graphics (4.25 GHz).

Splave noted that he initially expected 4.4–4.5 GHz, with a secret goal of 5.0 GHz. The result obtained brought him closer to that mark.

Liquid nitrogen cooling was used to achieve 4.769 GHz. Ordinary systems allow the card to be overclocked to a maximum of 3.3–3.5 GHz. Extreme overclocking remains a demonstration of the capabilities of the RDNA 4 architecture, showing the hidden performance potential.
