In an interview, analyst Matt Piscatella from Circana for the Xbox Expansion Pass podcast said that ROG Xbox Ally sales "didn't even come close" to Steam Deck's performance. He noted that the situation could change due to the Steam Deck shortage, but it's more about the device not being available for sale, rather than a more favorable offer.
Previously, Piscatella said that the ROG Xbox Ally had a "fantastic" start, but then sales dropped sharply – as expected for such a price segment. According to him, no device has yet been able to offer a balance of performance, price, and features comparable to Steam Deck.
Interest in Steam Deck is also confirmed by a recent GDC survey, where developers showed significantly more attention to it than to other portable systems.
