Amazon Games has terminated its publishing agreement with Maverick Games, which is working on a story-driven open-world racing game. The game remains in development, but the studio will need to find a new partner.
Maverick Games was founded in 2022 by Mike Brown, former creative director of Forza Horizon 5. The partnership with Amazon was announced in May 2024.
An Amazon representative stated:
As part of our strategic evolution focused on projects with unique Amazon opportunities, including the relaunch of the Luna platform and work with the Tomb Raider brand, we have decided to release Maverick Games from its publishing agreement. We respect the team and their project, and this decision gives the studio the flexibility to find a partner better suited to bringing the game to market.
