Bethesda has released a large-scale adventure on a compact platform, and the first comparisons are appearing online.
The studio has given the game a "second youth" and transferred it to a new device. Fallout 4 has been released on Nintendo Switch 2. Post-apocalyptic Boston is now also available in portable format.
Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition for Switch 2 includes the base version and six add-ons: Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, Contraptions Workshop, Far Harbor, Vault-Tec Workshop, and Nuka-World. The bundle also includes over 150 materials from the Creation Club – weapons, quests, companions, and elements for building settlements.
Three modes are available on Switch 2: 30 FPS at 1440p with increased details, 40 FPS at 1080p (120 Hz mode), and 60 FPS in dynamic 1080p with PS4-level settings. In 30 and 40 FPS modes, the Switch 2 version is close to the PS4 and sometimes looks better, but it is inferior to the PS5 in resolution and stability. At 60 FPS, the game runs smoothly with the quality of the past generation. The PS5 remains the leader in image clarity, but the port for Switch 2 for the hybrid console looks decent.
