Clouds are gathering over PlayStation Studios. The online shooter Fairgame$ from Haven Studios is facing problems reminiscent of the recent Concord failure.
According to Detective Seeds, about 50 contract employees have been notified that their contracts will not be renewed. Within the team, the decision caused surprise – developers believe that with such an ambitious project, external specialists are needed to complete the work.
The reason is the poor results of recent internal tests. Sources report that the game was deemed completely unready for release. One of the unsuccessful showings was the direct cause of the departure of studio founder Jade Raymond. Although in mid-2025 Sony assured that it was planning a release, staff instability and negative tester feedback are putting the future of the shooter in question.
Analysts believe that Sony is waiting, watching the results of Marathon from Bungie. The genre is experiencing a decline: Payday 3 showed weak sales, and Contraband from Xbox was canceled.
The studio is still open, but the atmosphere is tense. The fate of Fairgame$ is being decided at the highest level of Sony. The coming months will be crucial.
