Thanks to its arrival on Xbox Game Pass, Star Wars Outlaws doubled its audience on Xbox consoles in a week, attracting 595,000 new players. This figure almost equals the game's total sales on the platform over a year and a half.
Data from Alinea Analytics shows that the subscription effect was immediate: 100,000 players launched the game on the day it was released on Game Pass. By February 23, approximately 595,000 people had launched the game through the service (consoles, PC, and cloud). The subscription effectively doubled the reach in a few weeks, something that discounts or promotions could not achieve.
Star Wars Outlaws received good reviews, but there were technical issues – the stealth and detection system was criticized. Ubisoft fixed the bugs and released two DLCs about Kay Vess's adventures, but sales no longer grew. The company attributed this to the lukewarm reception of the Star Wars brand among players.
Other major Game Pass hits for January:
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II — 544,000 new players;
- Death Stranding Director’s Cut — 512,000 new players.
