Recently, blogger Smart Poly drew attention to a discussion that took place on the official Unreal Engine forum.
One community member said that they are using UE 5.6.1 and are considering an update. They inquired about the approximate release time of the new engine version, to which they received a response from an Epic Games representative:
Preview 1 is scheduled for release in May, the final build on June 5, and the official release of Unreal Engine 5.8 is expected in mid-June. Therefore, if you are currently using UE 5.6.1 and can wait until June, it is recommended to update directly to UE 5.8. If an update is required sooner, we suggest considering a transition to UE 5.7.
However, they clarified that this is a "preliminary schedule." If nothing changes, the full release of Unreal Engine 5.8 will take place in mid-June 2026.
