Is a New Sony Failure Looming? Online Horizon Hunters Gathering is Concerning

It seems PlayStation might have another issue with an online project. Over the weekend, closed tests were held for Horizon Hunters Gathering, a cooperative game in the Horizon universe with a cartoonish style.

Getting an invitation wasn't difficult, but Steam statistics raise questions. The peak online presence on PC was only 561 people, and by Sunday evening, the number of active players had dropped to 226.

Screenshots online showing high online activity were misleading – they were taken during hours when the servers were officially offline. But the trend of decline within a single weekend looks alarming for Guerrilla Games. Sony may be counting on the PS5 audience, but there is no data on consoles.

The situation was complicated by the testing of Marathon from Bungie – during the same period, the game attracted more than 143,000 users. The smaller project was overshadowed.

Against the backdrop of such results, the question arises about the feasibility of investing in small spin-offs based on well-known brands.
