The promotional materials for Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival attracted players with their "gory" and explicit content. Some feared that ratings agencies would not approve it and that something would have to be cut.
Earlier, in a conversation with IGN, Saber Interactive creative director Tim Willits made it clear that the developers intended to squeeze the maximum out of the "M" rating (Mature):
We will go as far as we possibly can — as far as the people who set the rules will allow us. And I hope that we will be able to release a single version of the game, but we are prepared to go as far as we can in general.
In the end, the developer did not have to cut anything — they managed to obtain an ESRB rating (United States and Canada).
However, the game has not yet been rated in many other regions. There is a risk that a separate version will still have to be released for them.
The release of Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival is expected in 2026.
